Building of the Year – Total Ag Industries, Hillsboro, N.D.

American Buildings Co. (ABC) has announced the winners of its 2014 Excellence in Design Awards. The competition is designed to inspire new ideas and expand the metal building systems industry. Every project submitted showcases the variety of designs and continuous innovation.

Each year, ABC hosts the Excellence in Design Awards competition for all authorized ABC Builders and Architectural Metal Systems (AMS) Roofers. A panel of neutral judges selects the winners.

Project winners were chosen from each of the following categories: Agricultural; Auto Dealerships; Church/Religious Center; Commercial; Government/Institutional; Green Building; Manufacturing/Industrial; Office; Recreation; Retail; Roofing; Transportation; Self Storage; Special Projects and Warehouse/Distribution.

Roof of the Year – Central Alabama Community College, Alexander City, Ala.

Winners, first and second runner-ups, and honorable mentions were recognized in each category. The winners were then nominated to compete for the two top awards: Building of the Year and Roof of the Year.

· Church/Religious Centers – Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, Central Point, Ore. Builder: S & B James Construction

· Government/Institutional – Support Services Complex for SDIRC, Vero Beach, Fla. Builder: Summit Construction of Vero Beach, LLC

· Green Building – Derwood Bible Church, Derwood, Md. Builder: Gardiner & Gardiner Contracting, LLC
