Fort Lee, N.J.-based Unience USA Inc., which manufacturers Alfrex metal composite material (MCM), hired Jay Kahn as president for North America for Alfrex. Kahn is leading a team to build the company’s first MCM plant outside of Korea. Alfrex MCM has been used in South Korea for more than 20 years.

“We will be bring our advanced, fully tested, fire-rated MCM to North America, as well as 1/8-inch coil coated plate, with a 30 year warranty,” Kahn says. “The 1/8-inch plate is an exciting option for architects, as some projects require noncombustible wall panels. In the past, plate jobs were typically post painted and had issues with paint peeling and other challenges. Typically Kynar paints would only have 10 year warranties. Coil coating provides a variety of finishes that post painting can never match.”

Kahn has more than 25 years of experience in the industry. He has held roles in sales, commercial development, and research and development at Eastman, Ga.-based Reynobond by Arconic Architectural Products LLC and Chesapeake, Va.-based ALPOLIC by Mitsubishi Chemical Composites America Inc.
