ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) announced it is offering application submittal service to obtain State of Florida approval for ICC-ES clients. ICC-ES is an approved evaluation, validation and quality assurance entity in Florida.

Florida has a separate building product listing program including a review of products used under the latest version of the Florida building code (FBC) and high velocity hurricane zones (HVHZ). ICC-ES conducts the technical and manufacturing quality validations as part of the Florida state product approval utilizing Method 1, Option C Evaluation Report from a product evaluation entity. This method streamlines the process to obtain a Florida product approval.

Once an ICC-ES evaluation report is published with a FBC supplement, ICC-ES can assist the report holder in navigating the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) product approval process from application to final approval.

“ICC-ES has a long history of evaluating building products for use under the international codes and Florida building code and has worked with the Miami Dade County Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources for a number of years,” said ICC-ES vice president of external relations and client services, William Gould. “This new service streamlines the process and takes it to the next level. Obtaining a Florida product approval helps manufacturers build confidence and earn the trust of code officials that the products meet the state’s building code requirements.”
