The Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC) named Scott Kriner as the recipient of the 2020 Marty Hastings Award. Named in honor of longtime Board member, Treasurer and Technical Committee member, Hastings contributed greatly to the CRRC and is fondly remembered for his upbeat attitude, enthusiasm, and sense of humor. The annual award commemorates his contributions to the CRRC and goes to a volunteer who has made outstanding contributions to the CRRC.

The Marty Hastings Award was created in 2011 by CRRC’s Board of Directors to commemorate Marty Hastings, a longtime Board member, Treasurer, and Technical Committee member. The award recognizes significant contributions to the metal construction industry and CRRC; and includes a donation made in the recipient’s name to a charitable organization of his/her choice as well as complimentary Membership Meeting registration and travel costs.

Kriner is a long-serving member of the CRRC Technical Committee and a valuable contributor and technical resource to the CRRC for over 20 years. Over his tenure, Kriner has served as the Chair of the CRRC Technical Committee and as a CRRC Ex-Officio Board member. His accomplishments include being instrumental in the development of the CRRC Product Rating Program and the creation of the CRRC Color Family Program. Kriner is also an active MCA member and previously served as MCA’s technical director.

Kriner selected the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation as the recipient of the charitable donation made by the CRRC in his name. The Foundation was created in memory of firefighter Stephen Siller who lost his life on September 11, 2001 and honors first responders and helps provide mortgage-free homes to veterans, first responders, and their spouses, who have been severely injured or killed in the line of duty.

Kriner accepted the award online during the CRRC general meeting on June 17, with his wife Lee Ann by his side.
