Vulcraft Group in Norfolk, Neb. has a new leader. Troy Brooks, an 18-year veteran of Nucor Corp., was recently named as the vice president and general manager of Vulcraft-Nebraska, Cold Finish-Nebraska and Nucor Detailing Center, which are all located in Norfolk.

Brooks has a long history with Nucor, including six years at the Norfolk mill. His career with the company began in 1997, when he was hired as a credit supervisor at Nucor Steel-Texas. He later moved to Berkeley, S.C., where he worked as a cost analyst before transferring back to Nucor Steel-Texas in 2001. While there, he worked as a district sales manager. In 2003, Brooks was promoted to sales manager at Nucor Steel in Jackson, Miss.

He arrived in Norfolk in 2006, where he served as the sales and shipping manager. In July 2012, he was promoted to the position of general manager of Verco Decking, a Nucor company located in Phoenix.

On October 26, 2014 he accepted the position of general manager of the Norfolk Vulcraft, Cold Finish and Nucor Detailing Center facilities.

Brooks succeeds Doyle Hopper, who had served as vice president and general manager of the three Norfolk-based facilities since 2008. Hopper transferred to Nucor Steel in Wallingford, Conn., in September.
