On 4/3/20, Mike Rubio sent the following update on operations:

As we experience this unprecedented time in these last few weeks, we would like to update you on how we are keeping up with taking pre-cautions towards COVID-19 here at Western States Metal Roofing. Amid the uncertainty of this rapidly evolving situation, we are constantly acting towards making sure our employees and customers are safe by introducing new protocols.

Many cities and states have issued a “stay at home” or “shelter in place” order except for businesses classified as essential. These businesses are part of the necessary need for the United States infrastructure. Western States Metal Roofing is classified as an essential business and we will conduct our normal business hours until told otherwise.

WSMR is staying in contact with vendors and truck drivers to ensure access and delivery is available during this time. For states that have orders for ”shelter in place” we will verify if any job sites are open and contact the customers prior to delivery of the material. We will review alternate sourcing if it becomes necessary and we’re working our hardest to keep available products in stock at our facility. If we receive any additional information regarding the access of coils, stock material, accessories, and a change in lead times we will communicate to our customers these changes in a timely manner.

While we remain open, the health and well-being of our employees, customers, and suppliers are our top priory. We continue to be proactive in our daily cleaning of the facility and implement new protocols to stay in front of the virus. WSMR has implemented a work from home guideline to the sales force, purchasing department, and customer service reps. As we have stopped doing walk up sales at the facility your sales representative is available by phone, email and text if you need any information or pricing on material. The sales reps are also available by video conference via Zoom Meetings and GoToMeetings.

As the COVID-19 situation keeps evolving we will keep everyone up to date with current information on our facility and protocols. We will continue to provide a safe environment for our employees and customers. We thank you for your support during these times and hope you stay healthy and safe. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

Mike Rubio, president of Western States Metal Roofing, released the following announcement in regards to current business operations:

At Western States Metal Roofing, we recognize it is a very challenging time for all of us. We’re actively monitoring and following all the guidance from the local, national, and global health organizations; including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as the introduction of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has continued to impact multiple communities. We feel it is important to share with you the efforts and protocols our workforce is implementing to be proactive in the safety and health of our employees and customers.

Prevention

First and foremost, we’ve implemented a rigorous cleaning of our front counter keeping high traffic areas sanitized and thoroughly cleaned. Throughout the WSMR facility a daily cleaning schedule will be followed to ensure we stay proactive in keeping a safe and clean facility. Cleaning materials such as: anti-bacterial wipes, Lysol, bleach, and hand sanitizer are available to employees. We’re working hard to keep these items replenished.

Second, we will make sure to keep all employees informed and up to date on any new information and promote best practices on keeping up with your health.

Third, we encourage all employees to self-report if they become sick and require quarantine. WSMR will take additional measures to either introduce a remote work policy or a flexible work option in order to accommodate needs of employees and families. We encourage employees to suspend travel to areas listed as level 2 and 3 as the COVID-19 threat is the highest among these areas. If you have the following symptoms, please report:

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath

The CDC recommends these steps to help prevent the spread of the respiratory illness:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using restroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol- based hand sanitizer with at least 60 %alcohol.

Customer Service

Our thoughts are with those who are directly affected by the virus and those who are working tiredly to treat them. We will continue to closely monitor this situation and provide updates as soon as they become available. We’re doing everything in our power to keep our employees, customers, and community safe by keeping our facility a healthy environment.
