The Metal Builders Contractor and Erector Association (MBCEA) is extremely pleased to announce that Hance Construction Inc. of Washington, N.J. has achieved the prestigious IAS AC478 Accreditation. AC478 is a standard to recognize Metal Building Assemblers committed to excellence. Achieving this accreditation is proof that Hance has the personnel, organization skills, experience, knowledge, management procedures, and commitment to assemble metal building systems in accordance with specified requirements and in accordance with the International Building Code. Art Hance, president of Hance Construction said “I wanted this for our company because the IAS mark is a symbol of quality; it provides proof that we have best-in-class policies and procedures. It was a lot of work, but well-worth it.”

The AC478 program complements an existing IAS accreditation program for Manufacturers of Metal Building Systems (AC472) developed by IAS and the Metal Building Manufacturers Association in 2008. With these two programs, manufacturers and contractors have complementary accreditation programs for metal building projects that will help assure the highest quality commercial buildings. The synergies of these two programs create a win-win for the metal building industry.

Keith Wentworth, president of MBCEA, congratulated Hance and emphasized, “We believe accreditation will help our industry deliver better quality in-place products—and that’s good for everyone: the manufacturers, the erectors, customers and the public. We applaud Art Hance’s leadership and investment in quality.”
