VMZINC-US has announced that its partner RapidMaterials will now offer 49.2-inch-wide zinc sheets to customers. VMZINC was the first zinc manufacturer with the capability of producing 49.2-inch-wide coils in natural zinc.

The expanded zinc sheets, available in natural coils at 0.8-mm-thick, are available through RapidMaterials, an online retailer for construction tools and products that has partnered with VMZINC since 2010. Natural zinc is an elegant, shiny and smooth when it comes out of the mill. When installed on a building’s or home’s exterior, Natural Zinc by VMZINC will weather and form a beautifully textured grey patina. The patina’s evolution can take several years depending on the location of the panels.

The standard 39.4-by-120-inch zinc sheet is equal to one meter in width, whereas this expanded 49.2-by-120-inch zinc sheet is equal to four feet in width. This size will enable customers to install the sheets more efficiently and reduce overall waste, especially for projects using American units of measurement. This width is particularly useful for interior projects, including countertops, to achieve a flat, seamless aesthetic.

“We are pleased to be the retailer of this expanded width VMZINC sheets,” said David Trefzger, manager of RapidMaterials. “These high-quality zinc sheets present a wonderful opportunity to our customers seeking a modern, natural material for their larger-surfaced projects, as they not only aid in the installation process, but also reduce the amount of overall waste.”

“We have a longstanding partnership with RapidMaterials, and we are excited about being able to offer our zinc sheets in this wider width to accommodate projects of all shapes and sizes,” said Daniel Nicely, managing director at VMZINC-US. “At VMZINC, we are committed to remaining at the forefront of our industry and to constantly creating innovative solutions – including this sheet width – to further aid architects, builders and installers.”

In addition, RapidMaterials offers other products to aid in the installation of the zinc sheets. These products include strub oil to clean and maintain zinc countertops and surfaces, polyurethane-coated gloves to keep oils and sweat from collecting on the material’s surface, and solder fluxes.
